Happy Friday everyone! Usually on Fridays we do a FOOD FRIDAY but today we are going to switch it up a bit. As mentioned in the previous blog post, the focus of March is about peace and calmness. In the morning, some drink coffee, but for the people that don't like the coffee taste, the way it makes them feel, or prefer something else in the morning, tea might be another option. Matcha green tea is known for having calming effects on the body while keeping you alert. Not only that but it also has tons of health benefits. Some include: increases fat burning, contains antioxidants, might help prevent cardiovascular disease, and might help protect the brain from aging. Green tea is a great way to start your day for those anxious people or stressful days, but it has a unique flavor that some might not like plain or a traditional way. So, for "FOOD FIRDAY", we will be giving you three different ways to drink green tea. This will allow you to try out green tea in three different ways and see if one of them is to your liking or which one you prefer. So, let's begin!
1. Hot matcha green tea latte (above picture)
Serves: 1 person
Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients
-1 tsp of powdered green tea
-1 cup of vanilla almond milk
-roughly 1 tbsp of churned honey
Steps
Get a small-medium sized pot and pour the vanilla almond milk in the pot.
Put the milk on the stove and turn the stove on medium heat.
Then pour in the green tea powdered and mix in into the milk. It works best if you have a frother, bamboo mixer, or hand-held blender.
Then add in the honey and mix it in the same way you did the green tea powder.
Let it all warm-up on the stove top (should take about 3-5 minutes)
Pour it into your mug and enjoy! (To avoid spillage, you can use a funnel to transfer it to the mug)
2. Iced matcha green tea latte (above picture)
Serves: 1
Time: 2-3 minutes
Ingredients -1 tsp of powdered green tea
-2 tsp of hot water
-1 cup of vanilla almond milk
-1/2 cup of ice
Optional: about 1 tbsp of honey
Optional: 2 tbsp of pureed fruit (recommended: mango or strawberry)
Steps
Heat your water in a mug or cup.
Then, pour the green tea powder into the hot water and mix it thoroughly. (Again, this works best with a frother, bamboo mixer, or hand-held blender)
Then add ice to your cup with the water and green tea mix.
OPTIONAL STEP: Next, add in your honey on top of the ice.
OPTIONAL STEP: Add in your pureed fruit on top of the ice.
Lastly, pour your almond milk on top of that, stir it up a bit and enjoy your iced green tea.
3. Warm matcha green tea (with optional flavor additions) (above picture)
Serves: 1
Time: 2-3 minutes
Ingredients
-1 cup of water
-1 bag of green tea
-OPTIONAL: 1 tbsp of honey
