"I am so lucky, everything works out for me."
Maybe you've heard it before, maybe not but since its March, the month of Luck, I figured what better time to discuss Lucky Girl Syndrome. Its this idea that if you believe you are lucky, then you will be. That the things you want to accomplish in life will be accomplished. That all your hopes, dreams, goals, and desires will come true with the simple shift of the mindset. Simply believing that you are lucky.
Let’s start with 3 easy ways to practice Lucky Girl Syndrome, then I’ll do a slight science based explanation on why this works.

How to Achieve Lucky Girl Syndrome.
You can practice this mindset of “I’m so lucky” through a few different ways…
Affirmations/mantras
Repeat to yourself, “I am so lucky. Everything always works out for me. I am always in the right place, at the right time. Things happen easily and effortlessly for me. Everything I want, always wants me more. The universe has my back.”
You can come up with your own version of these mantras, but practicing some sort of “speaking it into existence", is the basis of this idea. Our words hold power, wether we believe it or not, but how we talk about ourselves, is embedded into our being making affirmations truly change our self beliefs.
While this is the most common way of practicing lucky girl syndrome, this one may not be for everyone, which is why I’ve got a few other options to practice.
Lucky List Journaling
This is a term that I’ve coined for a very simple practice, that actually has roots in a journaling prompt my life coach once gave me. It sounds like the easiest prompt, but actually can be difficult in practice, especially if you don't believe in your luck.
Here’s the prompt: “Write down everything lucky in your life.”
It can be: I am lucky that I have a strong body and mind. I am so lucky I get to have an education. I am so lucky to have this amazing breakfast. I am so lucky to know my best friend.
They don’t have to be super complicated, but start with creating a master list, writing until you can't think of anymore ways you are lucky. Then make this into a daily practice by writing a list of 10 ways you are lucky each morning. Bonus if you write a short sentence or two of "why" behind each lucky statement. Similarly to gratitude journaling, your mind can’t deny the proof you’ve written and you’ll begin to see more lucky things around you. You will begin to believe you are lucky.
Visualization
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath through your nose, hold for 5 counts, then breath out through your mouth. Repeat this 3 times. Now, I want you to imagine the life you want. Picture the hopes, dreams, accomplishments as if they have already been achieved. Do 1 year from now, do 3 years from now, do 5 years from now. Sit with this visualization until it feels real. Describe the joy, the confidence, the success, the feelings that you feel of being so lucky.
Did you know that visualization activates the same neural pathways in the brain of real experiences? It taps into the subconscious mind and really motivates us.
Visualization is a practice that lots of athletes use prior to competing or performing. I used it before every competition, my whole team would sit in a circle and we would visualize everything going perfectly, reminding ourselves what that action felt like, and what we needed to do to make it happen.
Try this before going to sleep or right before you open your eyes in the morning. Picture all the luck you have and imagine yourself as the luckiest girl in the world!
Why does this work?
It seems kind of far-fetched, however there is science that backs it up. The idea of this Lucky Girl Syndrome is heavily rooted in the power of the mind. Psychologists use the term self-fulfilling prophecy to explain this phenomenon claiming that if you believe something will happen, it inherently changes your actions to make that event you believed in occur. In this case, believing you’re lucky and that everything you hope for will come true, causes you to behave and make choices that help those hopes and dreams to come true, therefore making you “lucky”. Even if it’s not truly luck at all, and really your hard work.
I hope you enjoyed this short but sweet blog post. And I’ll leave you with a gentle reminder that if you don’t feel like you are lucky, I am telling you that you are worthy of every good thing in the world. You are deserving of all the joy and happiness that is coming your way. You are the luckiest girl in the world. Acknowledge your growth, your success, and believe it.
Have a lovely day, night, morning, whatever time you read this, and an amazing month of luck! Love you little Bee’s,
Brooklyn.
