One of the most important aspects of life is water. Fun fact: we can go longer without food than we can water! The amount of water nessesary for prime health is a lot more than the average human drinks and it’s a lot more than it sounds. The suggested amount of water intake per day is 64oz (for a healthy person). There are certain illnesses that require more than this amount though. Getting 64oz of water daily can clear acne, flush out toxins from the body, help with joint movement, increase energy levels, and promote an overall bodily health. Since this is a lot of water, it can be difficult to achieve this amount. We have put together a list of 8 ways to improve your water intake.
8 TIPS TO DRINKING MORE WATER
Add fruit to your water: Water can be bland, but adding a pit of fruit to infuse into it can give it some flavor and encourage you to drink it!
Get a water bottle that counts down and encourages your water intake: This sounds silly but having a water bottle that tells you to “keep going”, “you’re almost there”, and “time to refill” can be super helpful in water consumption!
Drink tea: Tea is like infused water. Having a cup of camomile tea before bed is a great way to reach that water intake goal by the end of the night!
Set a reminder on your phone: Let’s be honest, sometime we have these amazing goals but we get so distracted by the day that we completed forget about them until the end of the day or even a few days later. By setting an alarm on your phone, you can reminder yourself to drink more water and of your goal amount!
Add electrolytes: Electrolytes keep you hydrated by adding salt to your water. Most of the time, these come in flavored packets that you add to water. Not only will it flavor your water to make it more drinkable but it also will keep you extra hydrated. Some great ones are Kinderlytes and Liquid IV’s.
Drink 8oz of water before breakfast: Starting off your day with 8oz of water is not only good for flushing out your toxins but it also will jumpstart your water intake.
Carry a water bottle with you: It is hard to tell when we are dehydrated or when we need water. Often, we don’t even realize until it is severe. Carrying water with you will let you have access to water all day without getting to the point that you realize you are thirsty.
Drink room temperature water: Yes, yes… ice water is refreshing but studies have shown that it is easier to drink more water when it is room temperature than when it is ice cold.
