Wanting to switch up something in your look or maybe even do something spontaneous for fun? There are so many ways to dye your hair without using all the chemicals on your hair that can have toxic effects on your body and damage your hair. Here is a list of different items that you can use to naturally dye your hair.
BLONDE/LIGHTENING YOUR HAIR COLOR
LEMON JUICE: Cover your hair in lemon juice, sit in the sun for at least an hour, and then rinse it out
CHAMOMILE TEA: Brew a strong big cup of chamomile tea, run the tea through dampened hair 10 times, let sit for 30 minutes, then wash it out.
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR: Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar, let sit for twenty minutes, and then rinse it out. *NOTE: it does pull warmer tones so it might make brunettes an orangish color instead of blonder AND it it not advised to be used on brittle hair!
BRUNETTE/DARKENING YOUR HAIR COLOR
COFFEE: Make a cup of strong dark roast coffee, combine with leave in conditioner, let sit for at least and hour, then rinse it out.
BLACK TEA: Brew a strong cup of black tea and let cool, soak your hair in the tea for about 20 minutes, then rinse out the tea. (repeat if needed)
COCOA: Mix a cup of cocoa powder with a cup of shampoo and use the shampoo as usual, however often you would like.
RED HAIR COLOR
HENNA POWDER: Put 1/2 cup of henna powder with 1/4 cup of water in a bowl and mix until it makes a paste. Then cover the bowl and let sit overnight. Wash your hair with no conditioner then apply some oil on your hairline to prevent the henna staining your hair line. Add then henna to your hair, cover your hair with plastic wrap to prevent drying and let sit for 2-3 hours. Then wash it out.
BEET JUICE: Mix in beet juice with coconut oil, apply to your hair and put plastic wrap over your hair after applied, let it sit for 1-2 hours, and then wash it out.
NOTE: There is also some natural based hair-dyes that you could use, instead of making it yourself, that will still help prevent the chemical damages that a normal hair dye causes.
