"Journaling is a way of having a conversation with yourself."~Unknown.

Happy December! I am actually doing a social media cleanse for this month which I feel is really needed, and I encourage you to consider doing this as well. I often find myself scrolling social media when I could be doing things that would help me feel better, and I think we are all guilty of this a little bit.

I've done a cleanse like this before and found the best way is to replace that time with an intentional act. For me, this is journaling.

I am the biggest fan of journaling and will talk to you for days about how much it has helped me. If you are new to journaling check out this post: Starting a New Journal.

Today I am sharing 5 journaling prompts that I love as I am just about to finish my 6th journal and am hoping to journal more in December.

journaling quote

  1. Write a letter from your childhood stuffed animals POV

This sounds so silly but similar to the common prompt "write a letter to little you", but this time you are doing it from a POV of watching yourself grow up and seeing all the things you learned to do, like learning to ride a bike to starting school, ect.

  1. What piece of advice would you give someone who was embarking on a journey into your mind?

I think this is such as good introspection prompt. Sometimes we get so caught up with life and moving quickly, that this allows us to pause and think about our minds. It also could show you what areas you may need to focus on.

  1. What are your "seasons" or "eras" of life you've been through?

It might just be me or my love of Taylor Swift, but I have begun categorizing my life in 'eras'. This journal prompt was so so fun and honestly a great way to break down and celebrate all the different phases I've gone through to get where I am now.

  1. Ways you can say 'I Love you" without saying it

If you want a short and sweet prompt, here you go! This is one is so sweet and a way to realize your unique love languages. An example from what I wrote is cleaning a pomegranate. I love pomegranates, but they are such hard work to eat. Whenever I clean one and get a bowl though, I always offer some to those I love. It's me saying "I love you" & I would hear an 'ily' if someone cleaned one for me too.

  1. Pick a music artist. What does this artist visually feel like to you?

I had a conversation about this with a friend and I had so much fun with it, I turned it into a journal entry and now a prompt for you. We were discussing Olivia Dean and Gracie Abrams and how they feel so different but you can imagine exact scenarios for them both. For example, when I listen to Gracie Abrams it feels like sitting on the floor of a pastel yellow kitchen with a slight drizzle outside but some sun rays still shining through, and quiet laughter and noise in the background. Its hopeful and nostalgic and sad and happy all at once.

I hope you all are able to enjoy these five journal prompts as winter begins the quiet introspective season fully sets in. This was a shorter blog as finals are setting in and life is so busy, but I am hopeful that it may just be what someone out there needs right now.

See you next year!

I am bittersweet about ending this post knowing that its the last one before 2026. It's been a good year. I made a commitment to myself to post on the first of every month this year, and I succeeded so I am celebrating that! I love you all so much and I love writing this blog.

Have a happy holiday season!

Love you little bee's and forever grateful,

B.
