A STARTING GUIDE TO USING LESS PLASTIC

Plastics are used in almost every part of our lives from plastic grocery bags to detergent packages. But our single use plastics, that we use in our daily life, is harming the earth and all living creatures on earth. Plastics are not biodegradable, meaning that instead of composting back into the earth, plastic will break into tiny parts of plastic which we call micro-plastics. These micro-plastics contain toxins that contaminate the earth and end up effecting the lives of living creatures on our planet. The less single use plastics we use the more are helping the earth, all living creatures, and our environment. So here are a few easy ways to start using less plastic in your everyday life.

  1. Bring reusable bags to the grocery store.

  2. Buy items in boxes rather than plastic bottles (like soaps).

  3. Use matches instead of plastic lighters.

  4. Try to buy items in glass jars, this way you can save and re-use the jars for storage or something else.

  5. Invest in or make cloth covers for your bowls when storing items instead of buying one use plastic covers.

  6. Use biodegradable sponges or dish scrubbers.

  7. Bring a travel cup instead of using one use coffee cups.

  8. Avoid using single use plastic straws.

  9. Buy in bulk to avoid a large amount of packages.

  10. Buy from plastic free brands.

As you can see there are many ways to help the earth by avoiding single use plastics in our daily life and there are so many more ways than the ten that are here.
