The typical bug repellents are full of chemicals. The most common chemical that is known for causing issues is DEET. It has been reported to cause skin irritation, headaches, shortness of breath, and neurological issues like seizures. So here are some ways to keep bugs off without all the chemicals.

Natural bug repellents

  1. Lemon and eucalyptus oil

  2. Lavender oil

  3. Garlic and lemon juice combo

  4. Crushed mint boiled in water

  5. Tea tree oil

  6. Avoiding salty foods

  7. Cinnamon oil

  8. DEET free bug spray

  9. Thyme oil

  10. Peppermint oil

If you do get bites this summer and want a natural way to help relieve the itching try putting ice, honey, aloe vera, or onions on the skin.
