OPENING YOUR HEART & MIND TO CREATIVITY (8 ways to boost creativity)

Happy Thursday! Today we will be focusing on the BE free section of this blog/magazine. The freedom to think, speak, express, live, and be creative, are all important aspects in our lives. One area that BE era Magazine really hones in on is the freedom of creativity. Art comes in many forms and can be super beneficial in many ways. Some people use art to express feelings, to speak their mind, or to give visuals and express opinions or thoughts. You can do this with music, painting, projects, scrapbooking, doodling, writing, photography, or videography. As children, we all are very creative, with stories, ideas, art, ect… Some of us keep the childhood creativty and it grows with you but others start to focus on something else as you grow up and you may feel that you have lost your creative juices. But today, we are going to help those people find their creativity again because we all have the ability within us. As we have said in previous blog posts, art is a great way to work through stress, anxiety, depression, ect… and even through the good emotions like love, gratitude, happiness, or excitement. It is a way of expression and everyone should have at least one creative outlet to help them express. So here are 8 ways to boost your creativity and open your mind and heart to it.

Opening your heart and mind to creativity.

  1. Try a craft you did as a child. Maybe you colored bird houses or you painted with your fingers.

  2. Do a painting with someone and switch papers every five minutes until each of them are finished.

  3. Close your eyes and draw a simple object like a flower. Open your eyes and see what you actually drew.

  4. Use reverse colors to draw or paint something. For example: Draw the grass blue and the sky green.

  5. Try to paint with something other than your hands. Maybe hold your brush with your feet or your mouth or maybe simple use your feet as your brush.

  6. Use outside materials to create a project. Maybe use pine needles as a paintbrush or use berries as your “ink”.

  7. Make your food into art. You can turn it into faces or a rainbow for example.

  8. Watch clouds and come up with what they look like. For example, maybe the round circle cloud looks like a glob of ice cream.

Getting in touch with your creative side might take time but it is totally worth it. Give these 8 ideas a try and see what you come up with. Often times our brain will continue to create once we push it to do so. Brains are like a muscle, the more you use it, the stronger it gets. In this case, the more you do it, the more it learns, no matter your age or previous ability. So try it out.

Remember: Never compare your step one to someone else’s step ten...you will get there, it takes time.
